While in Boston, I had oysters a few times (as seen here). What I consider the best oysters in Boston were definitely from Neptune Oyster. We arrived about 30 minutes after it opened. The waitress asked for a cell phone number and we were told it would be about a 2-hour wait for our table for 4. When they were finally ready for us, we were seated at one of the tables set up for 6. We shared the table with our neighbors, but with the wait and the small space I found it understandable.
We sat down and were offered an oyster menu and a regular menu. The friends and I decided to go for 6 oysters each while the fiance chose the burger with fried oysters.
The first oyster we tried (Wellfleet) didn’t have a really distinctive taste but was plump and delicious. The second oyster (Island Creek) was definitely my favorite. The oysters were so good I had to order them again when we went to Legal’s for dinner. The next two oysters (Katama Bay and Ichabod’s Flat) were yummy but had an aftertaste that I didn’t particularly love. They both had the buttery finish which I don’t think I’m used to. The last two oysters (Riptide and East Beach Blonde) had clean finishes and were on the smaller side.
The finace’s burger was also delicious. It came oozing with cheese and filled with fried oysters. It had a brioche bun which came grilled and there were crispy fries on the side. This is a spot I know I’ll come back to. Except next time I might add in an entree… and get a full dozen oysters!

I love oysters! Just posted an entry on them 🙂 That oyster burger looks SO GREAT. Yum! If I’m ever in Boston, I’ll know where to go. I’ve been to Legal Sea Foods in Philly. The oysters were great.
I saw your post, the pictures made me feel like I was in oyster heaven!!!
Haha, glad you enjoyed them. 🙂
