A Glimpse of Boston: Fanueil Hall

Going back to the Boston adventures we had a couple of weeks ago, we went to Fanueil Hall (which I forever called Nathaniel Hall). It’s a great place to explore with food/bars in the marketplace (including Cheers) and street performers when the weather is warm. We also stopped by Newbury Comics in the area where we found some fun books/comics/games. There was one book on The Beatles that I think I should get for wedding planning… Hopefully I can wrap up our Boston trip soon since we’re heading back there this weekend!

A Taste of Boston: Cornwall’s and Eastern Standard

A couple of days ago we went out with a few friends in Boston. We started off at Cornwall’s, a place I love because you can almost always snag a table and they have board games. The decor is very laid back with interesting pub touches.

After some fun times playing sorry, uno, and scrabble we moved to Eastern Standard for some classy late night food. We all shared the cheese platter and I got three oysters for myself. (Side note, I love oysters and could easily eat two dozen every time but I restrain myself because it looks weird.) Eastern Standard was definitely more upscale decor and the food was delicious. I would recommend this spot for meeting a couple of friends or a cozy, romantic date.

A Taste of Boston: Courthouse Seafood

A couple of days ago, after the science museum (you can find the post here) we went to Courthouse Seafood in Boston. I opted for the mussels while the fiancé got the fish and chips. Although the sauce for the mussels were good, the mussels themselves were subpar and overcooked. The fish and chips on the other hand was decent and definitely worth the price. The best item was the fried oysters (not pictured) that the future mother-in-law got. If I happen to go back, it’s what I plan to order.

A Glimpse of Boston: Museum of Science

As I mentioned in this post, we came to Boston to have some long overdue family time. Yesterday, we pulled the fiance’s nephew out of school to spend the day together. Watching a 3 year old all day is exhausting and at the end, he was ready to play some more and I was ready for a nap. We went to the Museum of Science to look at the picture of the fiance’s grandfather (he was some famous mathematician) and to explore the other exhibits. Below are the pictures I was able to take when I wasn’t chasing after the nephew, making sure he didn’t wander off.

Although yesterday was a fun day, today is exactly what I need: a date-day with a couples’ massage and sushi.

A Taste of Boston: Bottega Fiorentina

Yesterday the fiance and I shipped off to Boston to spend some time with the future in-laws and some of his childhood friends. Although the snow in NYC is sadly all melted, it was still on the ground in Boston. You can remember my love of snow here.

After relaxing and getting some work done, we headed to Bottega Fiorentina for a double date. The atmosphere was laid-back with some cute touches including a spaghetti and meatballs manifesto, picnic tables, and mini-fireplace. The price was unbelievable with some entrees at $6! However, it wasn’t as good as the pasta that I’m used to so I probably won’t be going back. But if you’re looking for a budget date, I’d recommend the prosciutto. It was cut nice and thin with mozzarella, tomatoes, and balsamic vinegar.
